Styles of communication with your children

Communication plays a very important role in everything we do in our life. The basic foundation of communication we begin to learn in our childhood. As a rule children adopt their parents’ style of communication.
The child observes his parents’ gestures and begins to mimics them; he starts to adopt their manner of arguing and encouraging.

Do you want to have good relations with your child?
Many things depend on our communication with them.

There are different styles of communication with your children or so-called communicative types:

• 1st type – Supervisor.
  Such type of parent gives orders. It is difficult for him to realize that his child has his own opinion and he can make a decision. Such a parent has in his vocabulary expressions like, “Don’t argue with me”, “You will do this in the way that I said”.
• 2nd type – Moralist.
  This type always makes such comments as, “You shouldn’t have done it”, “If you have obeyed me…” Morals given as bringing up talks are the main weapon of the Moralist.
• 3rd type – Know-it-all.
  “I have told you!” The Know-it-all can use irony and mocking that hurt a lot.
• 4th type – Judge.
  Such parents don’t listen to the excuse of their child, and conclude, “If you had been cleverer and better you would not act like this”. Such parents never make mistakes and demand the same from their child.
• 5th type – Critic.
  He notices mistakes of others very well and is always an annoying person, a pessimist. “This is a bad idea”, “I don’t think it will be something good”.
• 6th type – Buddy.
  He wants to be a friend to his child and doesn’t follow any principles. The most important thing for him is to be “good” and he doesn’t want to have problems in the relationship.

I’m sure you have recognized yourself in some of these descriptions of parents’ types.
