Izmail Life Care Center

In spring Izmail Life Care Center has held the holiday for women which we called “Women’s Day”. We spoke about the Woman, about her great predestination, that she is the Woman, the Mother, the Friend, she is unique. To imagine themselves as princesses all women wore crowns at that party.
We sang together and got to know many interesting things about the woman, that, for example, her heart beats 6-8 times more often than man’s , during the life her organism produces 7 mln. ovum.

I have known doctor Olga Alexevna Chernaya for many years. I have known her since the time when nobody called her by her patronymics, in high school she was called Olya. We had something in common that is the will to serve and help our class and school mates through active membership in Komsomol organization. Now it is not fashionable to talk about such things because in a contemporary society the active “political” position usually leads to fulfillment of one's material desires. At that time that was the way how we could genuinely fulfill our altruistic desire to help others.

In Ukraine every person has his own understanding and interpretation of Christmas. Some get joy out of the meeting with godparents of their children, some learn and sing Christmas carols (which usually do not contain any words about the birth of the Savior) to get money and candy for singing, some think that that day they have to have a certain number of special dishes on the table. Christmas eve is considered to be almost the only time when one can peek into the future, that is why it it popular to forecast the future that day. Unfortunately not many people know about the true meaning of Christmas.

On January, 2 the Life Care Center held a Christmas party for kids.
Graduates and students of the School for Moms came to the party with their children.

Kids and their parents heard and with the help of flannel-graph saw the Christmas story; they sang children’s songs, played, answered questions about the birth of the Savior and discussed what could be the present for Jesus on his birthday.

New Year and Christmas holidays have already gone. On these days we believe in wonders, on these days we want a Wonder.
On December, 26 graduates and students of the School for Moms had a Christmas party in specially decorated Sanctuary of a Presbyterian Church of Izmail, Ukraine.

Burning candles created the mysterious Christmas atmosphere.

On the 7th of December a support group for moms of children from one year to two was held at the Life Care Center of Izmail Ukraine. This time we have discussed a topic “How to hold the line on tantrums”

There are a lot of interesting stories. The story that I tell you nobody made up, its heroes are real people. My daughter and I are volunteers at the Life Care Center. Three months ago my daughter noticed that one of her fellow students had changed strangely. Having told me her observations my daughter supposed that the girl was pregnant. I recommended her to invite the girl to Izmail Life Care Center for consultation. For several hours we had heartfelt talks about dating, purity of premarital relationships.

Communication plays a very important role in everything we do in our life. The basic foundation of communication we begin to learn in our childhood. As a rule children adopt their parents’ style of communication.
The child observes his parents’ gestures and begins to mimics them; he starts to adopt their manner of arguing and encouraging.

Many things depend on our communication with them.

On a wonderful September day 8 volunteers of Izmail Life Care Center spent an unforgettable time together on the bank of a picturesque lake not far from Izmail. The retreat lasted two days. During that time we had barbeque, listened and discussed the sermon about the role of the woman in the family and society, laughed a lot.

The second day started with prayer and reflection on the chapter of Max Lucado’s book “Love that is worth giving”. We spent time getting to know each other, answering funny questions. After lunch we trained two more volunteers in the program “You are Unique”. They will join us in our work at schools and counseling people.

In the summer of 1974, when my first child was born, I didn't know anything about infant massage, but I knew that I wanted to touch my baby. It was a hot summer, and it felt good to carry my daughter around skin to skin. I would take her outside and lay her on a blanket in the fresh air under the eaves of our house. There I would rub her with sweet almond oil and massage her soft skin.
