Izmail Life Care Center

On June 27, there is a holiday in Ukraine - The Youth Day. On this day LCC has carried out the festival "White Ribbon". The aim of the action was the defense of unborn babies, the prevention of abortion and risky behavior among teenagers, the revival of family values.

There was a quiz among teens "What Do I Know about Sexually Transmitted Diseases" The winner received the bottle of Coca-Cola and a book about pure relations "Sex is Just a Cherry on the Cake". Kids of every age played games. Even those who only can crawl participated in competition "Crawl to the Price". Everyone enjoyed that funny challenge. Moms in their turn showed how they can manage the household chores.

On the 22-23 of May in the building of Christian Clinic in Belgorod-Dnestrovski two day training for volunteers of crisis pregnancy was held by staff members of Izmail Lfe Care Center. Volunteers from Reni and Izmail got together a hospitable and cozy place where a lot of material was covered in a short period of time. We managed to go through 12 lessons on counseling. These are some of them:

Biblical foundations for the sanctity of human life. The nature of the crisis.
Interpersonal communication and ability to care through active listening and empathy.

On the 21 of May in Belgorod -Dnestrovski another Conference "We are for life" was held by the volunteers of Izmail Life Care Center. We were invited by Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Belgorod.
Abortions and the lack of sexual education in the families, STDs and multiple sexual contacts have become the most spread problems in our country. Information which was shared with women of that church will help them influence the situation in Bedorod-Dnestrovski.

On the 3-5 of May the staff and volunteers of Izmail Life Care Center were able to take part in the seminar held by Psychological Counseling Center "Springs" in Odessa. The guest speaker – professional and licensed counselor, Langston Haygood taught on different topics like: "Family counseling, Premarital Counseling, Child rearing, counseling problems in teenagers, addictions and affairs.

Using the knowledge we gained during this seminar, we are going to teach a conference "Almost adults" for the parents of teens in Izmail on the 5th of June.

On April 24 the volunteers of the Life Care Center were invited to Reni with the purpose of holding the conference "We are pro-life" in the building of one of the local protestant churches.

There is a group of ladies who would like to start a Center like a Life Care Center in their town and they need knowledge and the team of volunteers to do it together.
The purpose of the conference was to share the information on pro-life topics like "What the Bible says about abortion", "Abortion and its consequences", "Sex education in the family" and give the vision to other women what they can do to save lives.

This year God allowed all Christians – Catholics, Orthodox ans Protestants to celebrate Easter on the same day. Volunteers and some clients of Life Care Center decided to come together to be a part of Easter celebration on Thursday the day when Jesus died. Later we found out that this day was specially honored and according to the Jewish tradition the Easter lamb was slaughtered that day, symbolizing the future sacrifice in Jesus Christ.
That day the whole family came together to remember how God helped Moses to bring the Jewish people out of slavery. He sent the ten plagues to show the hard-hearted Pharaoh the He meant business. The last plague was the worst – death. The Angel of death flew over the entire land of Egypt to slay all the first born sons ans cattle.

We held a new assay contest on a pro-life topic “The value of human life” among the seniors of local high schools. The essay-winner is offered to your consideration.

Today I want to tell you the saddest story of my life. I think that it will stay in my heart forever and will never, hear me, never happens with the unborn child.

In LCC in the School for moms there are creative lessons where women open their creative potential.
For the Easter holiday they designed Easter eggs and remembered the Christ’s resurrection. In the nearest future women are going to model and decorate cakes for their youngsters. Everyone enjoys these lessons.

On March 17, 2010 Izmail Life Care Center has held prize ceremony of the winner of the contest for the best composition among high school students. The described topic was “The Human Life Value”. The winner was the student of Izmail School No 8 Julia Atamanchuk. She had won MPEG4 player.

Together with the prize ceremony Izmail Life Care Center has held the talk-show “You Are in Love, What Else?” The invited experts (married couple, unmarried young man, youth counselor) gave their opinion on interested issues – the difference between guys and girls, dating, sex abstinence and cohabiting. Students had the opportunity to ask questions. The atmosphere was very friendly.
